BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet.
The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury's lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. In the process, cementing the legacy of a band that were always more like family, and who continue to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

It's "Queen - the Road movie". It's totally OK hence you know that some things don't fit the chroniological order but: who cares? It's a road movie. :)

More: 1) Paul Prenter nor did anyone fail to "tell" Freddie that Live Aid was taking place. First of all, every musician on the planet knew about Live Aid. Freddie couldn't have possibly not known. The reason why Freddie was hesitant to perform was because he was suffering from a throat ailment that caused the cancellation of the final 5 shows of Queen's previous tour. In fact, Freddie performed the Live Aid gig against his doctor's advice. 2) For some reason John Reid was depicted as being Queen's manager throughout the entire film, when in fact he was only their manager from 1975-1978. Reid was depicted as a manager who saw Freddie as the star of Queen, and with the assistance of Prenter, landed him a solo recording career with the idea that he could become a Michael Jackson/Madonna like star, independent of Queen. The video above documents how both Roger Taylor and Brian May released solo records before Freddie, but again, by 1978, Reid was completely out of the Queen universe. Also, the intent of Freddie's solo record was more of a creative outlet. Even if it had sold 3 million, I doubt he would have ditched Queen. 3) The movie shows Paul Prenter on TV dishing out dirt about Freddie. Never happened. Prenter leaked info to the tabloids a couple of years after his firing from Queen in 1986. ....................there are several more inaccuracies, but not nearly as many as in Oliver Stone's movie on The Doors.

I already assumed that they had to speed things up for the movie - it's impossible to get it all in 2 hours, so yes, some creative writing is expected. This should not be a surprise to anyone. I love Queen, loved the movie. I would see it again. The "critics" should do something else for a living.

Most annoying part for me was is that movie assumes that before live aid they stopped even seeing each other which absolutely untrue. I mean this is what makes this movie just too far from reality. I mean c'mon take a look at movie Backbeat about The Beatles, they did everything perfectly, made a show, plus made accurate biography of some taken period. Second most idiotic part for me is that freddy never was such drama arse as they showing him, he was lot more philosophical, and never been acting as teenager all the time, essence of Freddie could be done lot better than this. He was actually lot more manly and lot mature than this actor.

The movie did not impress the critics, but he conquered the audience, and that worth more that any opinion. Who cares if he wore moustache or not in that year, if it was 1985 of 1987 ... or whatever...? It is not a documentary, it is a movie. And the most important is that this movie does make us vibrate with each note and remind us that the most important thing for Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon is the celebration of music.

To those saying: "Who cares, it's just a movie, it's creative license, etc." The issue of the inaccuracies in the movie are brought up because this is one major way history is altered in today's society. Whether deliberate or accidental is another topic. It is very good to remind people of this & other movies' fiction because there are so many people incapable of remembering the "creative license" factor taken in movies which, to certain viewers, creates a false history of actual events in their minds which leads to distortions of all sorts in real life. Nobody is "getting their undies in a wad", as some commenters have said. They are no fool who wishes to remind all & preserve the accurate representations of history.

BUUUU! This is so unnecessary. You should get your own life and get out of your dungeon. BUUUU! The movie is so great as it can be. You should check the background. Storyboard has been changed to make this movie a better story. Nevertheless how can you miss the fact that the movie is great and you're not. BUUU! True fans (not like you) dig this movie.

My wife and I recognized the few things out of line. However, it's very understandable with the timeline of 2 and half hours to tell several years of events. The movie was epic, I'd pay to see it again. My wife has seen it twice and would go again. A great film, with great acting, and even better music.

Yes, being an old Queen fan and having lived the times as a musician I’m picky. I did notice a few timeline errors. I had assumed with Brian and Roger that this bio would hold true to such things. As I said, I’m picky. I don’t think it hurt the film or takes away from some Amazing performances.

I personally don’t understand, what is the point of doing a movie about someone and change the reality ? His life was what it was and there are no reasons for changing it. And btw there is a movie about ray charles which talks about his life from A to Z in approx 2 hours so it is possible to do a biopic relating a complete life, it is just a matter of scenario. I am a fan of queen and freddie of course, but unfortunately when you see the movie you don’t know how he learned music, how did he developp such a voice, I felt that the focus was his homosexuality, the tensions in the band, and aid. I am disappointed !

Here is my QUEEN STORY. In 2001 I was riding the Grand Canyon Railway, We were heading back from the Canyon to Williams Arizona. In the back of the car sat Roger Taylor and his wife, the concessionaire Jen was talking to Roger, the cowboy guitar player on the train finished his cowboy song set and went to the next car, Jen said outloud "I just love live music". she looked at Roger and asked what he did for a living, Roger was a class act, he said he played a little in a band, and they used to play live gigs. Jen asked the name of the band and Roger modestly said the name Queen, Jen flipped out as she was a huge Queen fan and had seen them many times. He thanked her for buying tickets and supporting the band. No ego or attitude. I was there and thought the conversation between the 2 of them very human.

I was bothered by the eye color, as i felt the teeth were a little "over the top" and just nailing those, dark, mischevious, compelling eyes wouldve sealed the deal for Rami's, otherwise, excellent portrayal of Mr. Mercury. The time shuffle was a bit convenient and annoying but did make for good "story telling." All in all, id say the film is a success because of it's heart and the actors' and crew's care of the subject. Throw in some brown contacts and id have really little else to criticize. Was it by the book, yes, but Freddie and Queen were very special and that part is well depicted and respected. They deserve the treatment for how well they actually navigated those times. A band ahead in many ways, not perfect, but certainly royalty in the most honored sense of the word.

Nice to see this. It's obvious that to show on big screen these methods are used. No matter what I love the real Oueen's story. What's this fuss all about, relax and enjoy the movie. For die hard fans it's a refreshing moment, so just enjoy. She's just giving her opinion, and there's no harm in that. As for me I enjoyed d movie, and still i like the real story of Queen, and this is just a movie, where sensationalization is the norm. It ain't a documentary, it's a fucking biography, there a difference (reality vs fiction/dramatization)

I understand why they changed things. If the band had a part in it I feel it was acceptable. The facts were there they just took creative liberties to condense the story. I was very happy with the movie and feel it will help new generations to appreciate Queen and this era of music as they should be, I was fortunate enough to have been raised in this era and found a brand new appreciation for the group all over again! Rami was amazing, and Gwilym was PERFECT as Brian May - thought I was watching the real guys as I had 40yr ago. Saw the movie twice, and plan on doing so again. they clearly made the diagnosis earlier because the movie had to end with live aid like imagine live aid in the middle of the movie?? hell nahh so since he was diagnosed 2 years later putting those two years in the movie would’ve kinda ruined the whole BIG end with the concert it just doesn’t feel right you know?? and imagine if they had done the movie as we saw it but without the diagnosis since that was following the real events, we all know that ppl would’ve been mad if they had omitted his sickness but live aid had to be the ending, the years after that are more of the same until 1991 and portraying that would’ve made the movie 4 or 5 hours long! i think it was a brilliant movie
